Creating a place where anyone can step into the fun and active world of pickleball required more than just courts; it called for a facility that could serve as a year-round hub for recreation and community. Designed as a 25,000-square-foot venue open to the public 365 days a year, the space invites players of all skill levels to gather, compete, and socialize while enjoying a full hospitality experience. One of the primary challenges was fitting a robust food service kitchen into an already active environment where square footage was at a premium. The kitchen needed to support consistent service for guests while occupying as small a footprint as possible within the larger facility. Working closely with the project’s other teams and trades, the design solution focused on reclaiming valuable floor area through smart coordination and creative planning, including structurally mounting the water heater above to free up space below and adjusting the walk-in cooler and freezer configuration to gain critical inches where they mattered most. The result is a fast-flowing, functional, and health-compliant kitchen that efficiently supports the venue’s operations while allowing the facility to deliver on its mission of serving the community through sport, gathering, and year-round activity.
